Diaphragm Pulsation Dampers ー PMZ Series

Reduces pump pulsation and suppresses vibration

Pulsation Damper

The PMZ Series pulsation dampers can be installed on the secondary side of air diaphragm pumps to achieve nearly pulsation-free operation. Since no electrical power is required, installation is simple and easy.

> Pulsation Damper PMZ Series ー Key Features

Prevents problems caused by pulsation
This includes reducing vibration that can affect piping and joints, minimizing the risk of overfeeding, and improving flow meter accuracy. When pump transfer is part of a critical process, the system also helps reduce product defects caused by intermittent discharge.

Available in a wide range of materials and connection sizes
A broad selection of materials and port sizes is offered to suit various applications.

Suppresses piping vibration

  • Pulsation-induced vibration is reduced, helping to minimize the impact on joints and prevent loosening of bolts and nuts.

Prevents overfeeding

  • The pump is designed to prevent overfeeding – a condition where inertia causes the actual flow rate to exceed the specified performance.

Improves flow meter accuracy

  • Pulsation can cause measurement errors in flow meter-based discharge control. Our solution helps eliminate this issue and ensures accurate flow measurement.

Pulsation Dampener Installation Example

Pulsation Dampener Adjustment Method

  • Adjust pump discharge flow with the FRL unit while keeping the pressure regulator valve fully open.
  • Apply back pressure using the pressure regulator valve, referring to the downstream pressure gauge.
  • If the pump discharge flow is too low, increase the supply air pressure to meet the required flow rate.
  • Adjust the air pressure of the pulsation dampener to approximately 0.7 × downstream pressure as a guideline.
If no downstream pressure gauge, use the FRL unit’s supply air pressure as a reference.
  • Adjust the pulsation dampener, pressure regulator valve, and FRL unit to achieve the required flow with minimal pulsation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can it be used with pumps from other manufacturers?

Basically, yes. Please select a model with a port size larger than that of your existing pump as a guideline.

How much can pulsation be reduced?

It depends on the conditions at your site. We recommend testing with a demo unit to evaluate the effect.

Does installing a pulsation dampener affect discharge flow?

By applying pressure to eliminate pulsation, the pressure may increase, which can result in some changes in flow rate.

What is the delivery time?

The standard lead time for the PMZ Series pulsation dampeners is approximately one month. Expedited delivery is also possible.
