Case Study|M Series|Chemical Injection Unit with Concentrated Sulfuric Acid Replenishment Pump

Client: Mining Site
Application: Chemical Injection of Concentrated Sulfuric Acid (with Replenishment Pump)
Model: Metering Pump Model M / PTFE Replenishment Pump

Lower the risk of concentrated sulfuric acid handling

A mining company consulted us regarding the installation of a chemical injection unit for concentrated sulfuric acid.

After reviewing our past case studies, they also requested a solution to eliminate the risk of splashing during chemical replenishment.

In typical chemical injection units, when the chemical tank runs empty, the operator must:

  1. Open the tank lid (sometimes unlocking it first)
  2. Refill the tank either by lifting and pouring from a poly container or using a handheld pump with a hose inserted into the tank

Even with method 2, the hose placed in the tank can move unpredictably, creating a potential hazard.

Easy and safe refilling with built-in pump

This unit is equipped with a dedicated replenishment pump installed above the chemical tank, separate from the injection pump.

Since the replenishment pump’s discharge line is directly connected to the tank, refilling is as simple as inserting the suction hose into the chemical container.

Because the chemical used is concentrated sulfuric acid, both the injection and replenishment pumps were selected in full PTFE construction.
The chemical tank was also designed for high specific gravity, suitable for sulfuric acid.
